1. What is Upper Blepharoplasty?
Upper Blepharoplasty removes drooped skin and fat from the upper eyelid to restore a fresh, youthful eye line.
Beyond skin removal alone, we combine adjustment of the skin, orbicularis muscle, and fat to complete a natural and beautiful eye line. The incision is hidden within the natural double-fold line, so scars are virtually invisible.
What Upper Blepharoplasty Improves
Removal of drooped upper-eyelid skin
Removal of thick eyelid fat
Restoration of a collapsed double-fold line
Correction of lax orbicularis muscle
2. Who Is It For?
Drooped eyelids block vision
When the drooped upper eyelid covers the iris, narrowing vision — patients then strain the forehead to open the eyes, deepening forehead wrinkles.
Always-tired-looking impression
For patients who look sleepy or fatigued even after a full night's sleep, or whose eyes look heavy.
Collapsed double-fold line
The previously crisp double-fold line is now covered by drooped skin or breaks into multiple folds.
Thick, heavy eyelids
Naturally thick eyelid fat causing puffy-looking eyes or hiding eyeliner.
3. ROI's Upper Blepharoplasty Approach
Natural line design
We analyze facial proportions, brow position, and existing double-fold line to design the most natural eye line. Crisp but never artificial.
Combined skin · muscle · fat correction
Beyond skin removal, we adjust the lax orbicularis muscle and remove excess fat appropriately for a smooth, light eyelid. Fat is repositioned to preserve natural volume when needed.
Ptosis correction combination
When weak eye-opening strength (ptosis) is present, ptosis correction can be performed at the same time for a crisper, brighter eye line.
4. Synergy When Combined with Facelift
Simultaneous improvement of eye area + whole face
Upper blepharoplasty focuses on the periorbital aging signs, but when the whole face is also sagging, combining with a facelift produces a far more harmonious result.
- Address eyelid droop and cheek / jawline sagging together
- Whole-face anti-aging effect under a single anesthesia
- Shortened recovery and faster return to daily life
Pre-Op Notes
- Stop wearing contact lenses 1 week before surgery
- Stop aspirin, vitamin E, and other bleeding-risk medications 2 weeks prior
- Arrive on surgery day after washing your face, without eye makeup
5. Recovery
Surgery day
Cold compresses start. Periorbital swelling/bruising may begin; take prescribed eye drops and medications.
Suture removal
Sutures removed at D+3 to D+5. Swelling starts to subside; facial washing allowed.
Swelling reduction
Most of the swelling and bruising resolves; light makeup easily covers the rest, daily activities resume.
Natural eye line
Incision line settles naturally; eyes appear refreshed and clear. Final result completes over 1–3 months.
