Eye Revision Surgery

Unsatisfying results, refined and reset

Was the result of your previous eye surgery less than you hoped for?
ROI Plastic Surgery precisely analyzes what went wrong in the prior procedure
and delivers carefully tailored revision surgery to restore a natural, beautiful eye-line.

1. What is Eye Revision Surgery?

Eye revision surgery is performed when a previous eye procedure (double-fold, ptosis correction, upper blepharoplasty, lower blepharoplasty, etc.) did not deliver a satisfying result, with the goal of reshaping the eye-line into what the patient originally wanted.

Revision is more technically demanding than primary surgery. Scar tissue, adhesions, and altered anatomy from the prior operation must all be respected, so deep experience and meticulous surgical technique are essential. ROI Plastic Surgery applies a deep understanding of revision work and proven know-how to pursue the best possible outcome.

Why Revision Is Harder

Scar tissue and adhesions from the prior procedure are present

Altered anatomy must be accurately mapped

Less skin and tissue reserve to work with

Managing realistic expectations is critical

2. When Revision May Be Needed

Left–Right Asymmetry

Different double-fold heights or lines between sides, or one eye looking visibly larger or smaller than the other.

Line Release

A buried-suture double fold that has come undone, or a line that has faded with time.

Over-Correction

A double fold that sits too high or looks too thick / artificial — including the so-called "sausage eye."

Under-Correction

A minimal post-op change, or a double-fold line that never developed as planned.

Scarring

A visible surgical scar, or an incision line that healed irregularly or with bumps.

Unwanted Fold Height / Shape

A fold that doesn't match the height the patient wanted, or an overall shape that doesn't feel right.

3. Our Revision Approach

1

Analysis of the Prior Surgery

We carefully analyze the prior technique, the post-operative course, and the current tissue condition. If prior surgical records are available, we review them together to pinpoint the root cause.

2

Detailed Tissue Assessment

Extent of adhesions, scope of scar tissue, and remaining skin and muscle reserve are all assessed in detail to build the optimal surgical plan.

3

Aligning Expectations

We explain honestly and in detail what revision can and cannot achieve. We only proceed once realistic outcomes have been thoroughly discussed.

Our Promise

If we judge that revision is likely to make things worse, we will tell you honestly and decline to operate. The patient's happiness and satisfaction is our most important goal.

4. Important Cautions Before Revision

Timing

We recommend waiting at least 6 months after the previous surgery before revision.

  • An accurate assessment requires that swelling resolves and tissues stabilize
  • Revising too early can actually make the result worse

Adhesions Matter

The presence of tissue adhesions at the prior surgical site must be carefully considered.

  • Significant adhesions raise the surgical difficulty
  • Recovery may take longer than the primary surgery

Please Confirm Before Your Revision Visit

  • Bring any prior surgical records (technique, dates) if available
  • Tell us about all current medications (especially blood-related medications)
  • Bring reference photos / images of the eye-line you want

5. Recovery Timeline

Note: Revision recovery varies considerably depending on the type of prior surgery and current tissue condition. The timeline below describes a typical course.

D+0

Day of Surgery

Cold compression begins. Swelling and bruising may be greater than after the primary surgery. Take prescribed medications as directed.

D+5–7

Suture Removal

Sutures are removed. Swelling begins to subside. Some tightness over adhesion areas may be felt.

D+14

Return to Daily Life

Most swelling and bruising are gone and patients return to normal activities. Easily covered with makeup.

D+90

Final Result

Adhesion areas fully stabilize and the revision result is visible. Revision typically takes longer to settle than primary surgery.
